Volunteer Opportunities

Here are just a few of the many advantages and benefits of being a volunteer:

Habitat for Humanity Sarnia-Lambton is primarily a volunteer organization and in need of a variety of skills. How To Become A Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Habitat for Humanity Sarnia/Lambton (HFHSL). In order to fulfill our mission, we depend on people who will volunteer their time and skills to work together to provide that "hand up" which will help break the cycle of poverty in our community. We are always looking for people to volunteer a few hours of their time.

We have currently under gone some changes within our organization, with change there are new requirements in which all volunteers must complete. Please review the following new process:

Step 1: The Volunteer Application Form

All interested individuals must complete the Volunteer Application Form. Application forms are available by contacting our office, or online at www.habitatsarnia.org. Volunteer Application Forms must be submitted to our office by mail, fax, on line or by dropping it off to our Sarnia office:

Step 2: Mandatory Safety, Health and Environmental Training (SHE) – ONLY FOR BUILD VOLUNTEERS

Health and safety is very important to us at Habitat for Humanity Sarnia/Lambton. We feel that it is our number one priority and duty to you, our volunteers, to train you before working on any of our build sites.

The Safety, Health and Environment Training, also referred to as SHE Training, is a mandatory element to our volunteer builds. We offer free training to those individuals that do not have Safety Training with their current employer. Those with Safety Training must provide a copy of certification in order to be exempt from this session. (Please see Events Calendar for schedule sessions).

Step 3: Personal Safety Equipment – ONLY FOR BUILD VOLUNTEERS

All volunteers must provide their own CSA Approved Safety Footwear. This is mandatory piece of personal safety equipment that must be worn on-site and in the ReStore at all times. They can be either a pair of boots or shoes as long as they are CSA Approved.
