Habitat Sarnia/Lambton breaks ground on first 'down-river' build

April 25, 2019 - Sarnia, ON

Habitat Sarnia/Lambton broke ground on 411 Murray Street in Corunna. 

This project represents:

* 1st down-river build

* 4th Lambton Builds partnership with the County of Lambton where volunteers in receipt of Ontario Works will be assisting with construction gaining hands-on experience, enhancing employable skillsets, and enjoying community involvement

* 5th partnership build with Lambton County Developmental Services supporting adults with developmental disabilities have safe and affordable housing within their own community.

Future Habitat homeowners, Carly and Theresa, will receive keys to their new home Fall 2019.

 

 

Habitat Sarnia/Lambton celebrating 25 years!

DeGroots Nurseries joined Habitat Sarnia/Lambton in launching our 25th Anniversary planting a commemorative tree. Come see the tree outside of the ReStore, 1787 London Line, Sarnia, Ontario.

Since inception in 1994 we have tranformationally changed the lives of 56 local families by building or renovating and then selling them simple, decent homes for $0-down, 0%-interest, Habitat-held, geared-to-income mortgages. Nearly 180 individuals have had a place they can call home. The Habitat Handyman program in partnership with the County of Lambton has delivered affordable home improvement services to nearly 220 families to date. Our Sarnia ReStore is #7 for most productive ReStores in Canada! Net venues pay 100% of operational/administrative affiliate expenses meaning 100% of donations received are used to build more homes for more local families.

 

 

Habitat Sarnia/Lambton receives national Housing Innovation award

May 2, 2019

Habitat Sarnia/Lambton received national recognition winning a Housing Innovation award at Habitat for Humanity Canada's national conference in St. John's, Newfoundland.

The award was for the Guthrie Drive Seniors Build, a seniors-only multiplex featuring five private, 975 square foot units. It was the first purpose-built affordable seniors housing undertaken by a Habitat affiliate in Canada.
