A Message from Habitat Sarnia/Lambton’s Board President, Rob Vandenende …
It is with mixed emotions that I inform you that Sarah Reaume will be leaving her position as our CEO effective the end of this month. Sarah joined our team in 2010 as the affiliate’s first professional leadership and has stewarded the growth of Habitat Sarnia/Lambton these many years. While she has decided to step back from the front-line demands of a CEO, Sarah will continue to undertake project-based work within the broader Habitat community. As such, and given the exciting projects Habitat Sarnia/Lambton currently has in the works, we are delighted to announce that she will remain available to offer support to these projects, to our staff team, and to our incumbent CEO.
While this announcement will be a surprise to many of you, please know that Sarah has been working closely with the Board and an executive search firm for the past several months to recruit and select her replacement.
A firm was hired in January of this year and, following a national recruitment campaign, and I am very pleased to announce the appointment of David Waters as Habitat for Humanity Sarnia/Lambton’s new Chief Executive Officer effective April 22nd, 2019.
Dave brings not only an in-depth awareness of and a passion for affordable housing to this role, but also has more than 35-years of diverse leadership experience. He has an extensive career in cooperative housing management and consultancy-based support to many other major cooperative housing providers across the Province. His considerable experience working with housing professionals within the County of Lambton, the Province of Ontario and at the Federal level in Ottawa will also stand him in good stead as our CEO. Dave has been a National Director for the Cooperative Housing Federation of Canada and is a past-President of their Ontario body. Dave has also served on Habitat Sarnia/Lambton’s Board of Directors for 5 years.
Habitat Sarnia/Lambton’s Annual General Meeting & Community Appreciation Celebration will take place on Wednesday, May 22nd at the Holiday Inn in Sarnia. Official notices and invitations for this event will shortly be disseminated. Kindly note that we will use that opportunity to formally thank Sarah for her service.
